Tim sees the combination of data & creativity as a powerful driver of change, and in particular loves the way data brings new confidence to decision-makers. His expertise of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd party data landscape and of best-in-class AI enables him to offer clients an advanced understanding of humans, brands, and marketing performance, and guidance on how to best thrive across these environments.
Tim founded Fluency, M&C Saatchi’s market-leading Data Consultancy, in 2020. It has gone on to partner with some of the world’s largest commercial and non-commercial organisations, from Amazon, McDonald’s and Nike to the United Nations, and UK Govt. In 2023 Fluency won Gold at Campaign’s Agency of the Year awards, for best industry Start-up.
Tim is a commended graduate of law, holds a first-class degree in history & politics, and a distinction in Dell EMC data sciences.

Mike Spencer
Mike is the Chief Operating Officer at Fluency M&C Saatchi. Mike’s 18 years’ experience leading an ever-expanding international team has seen him develop M&C Saatchi’s research, insight and analysis capacity across the 24 M&C Saatchi offices and M&C Saatchi Group companies across the world.
This culminated in the launch of Fluency M&C Saatchi in 2020, a business which has grown from start-up to scale up in 2 years and was profitable from year two.
Mike procures Fluency’s £2m data stack and has worked across multiple client projects ranging from the World Health Organisation and charities including the UK‘s National Trust, to the UK government and many other major commercial organisations, financial services to FMCG.

Amar Vyas
Amar is Chief Data & Technology Officer at Fluency and heads up our consultancy business. He brings with him 15+ years of analytics, madtech and consulting experience working with both the world biggest brands and niche businesses.
Amar typically works with senior leaders to establish a long-term data driven strategy ensuring it delivers against their board-level objectives. His automation and cloud first approach has seen many of his clients achieve their digital transformation agenda with speed.
Another area of expertise is in developing products and services that have transformed the insight capabilities and technical operations of his clients.
In his spare time, he’ll be on long walks with his wife and their dog or in tropical waters scuba diving on a reef.
Matt Steel
Matt leads Fluency’s marketing and business development and is fuelled by enabling clients to succeed in their roles. He is an automotive and motorsport expert with a passion for anything with wheels.
He’s not come from a data science world, but working with marketeers or in-house data teams, Matt values the incredible commercial benefit that data driven decision making and data fluency can bring to clients in any industry.
Matt races bikes, loves good coffee and guinea pigs.

David Lawton
David heads up the Data Science division at Fluency. He is a seasoned and deeply knowledgeable data scientist, having worked in the finance, research, and consulting sectors prior to marketing. Having completely automated his first three career roles, he has always sought bigger and more challenging problems – and is never more satisfied than when data and technology come together to produce creative solutions.
David’s particular passions lie in NLP, econometric forecasting, market landscaping, marketing mix modelling and image analytics. As an industry leader, he is keen to ensure Fluency’s clients are always benefiting from the latest developments in an exciting field.
David is an MSc in Economics from Bristol University. When not coding he can normally be found with one of his cats.
Shruti Patel
Shruti is a specialist in data storytelling, strategy, and analytics with client experience across brands including Samsung & BBC.
In her role, she focuses on connecting strategic outcomes to our clients’ objectives through actionable insights.
When not dancing, walking, or doing Pilates, Shruti loves Netflix, getting lost in a Wikipedia rabbit holes, and travelling to see the wonders of the world!
Jonathan Walker
Johnny is Global Consulting Director at Fluency, with more than a decade of experience as a marketing professional. He is passionate about helping brands understand people, markets and trends.
He has considerable cross-sector client experience, delivering projects that distil vast amounts of information into actionable learnings utilising consumer profiling, trend mapping, segmentation analysis, social listening, and more.
Johnny’s career at M&C Saatchi has seen him work across London, New York City, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney and Cape Town, amassing cultural and professional experience and delivering exceptional results throughout. He has been based in NYC for the last 8 years, where he leads Fluency NA.
Johnny holds an MSc in Market Research, for which he obtained a First Class Honours.
